What do a rock visual artist, massage, underserved community music programs and an icon of the Flower Power movement from the 1960/70s have in common? The answer is simple: The Hands That Rock (HTR), an active 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit dedicated to delivering the gift of music to needy children across the country through providing chair massages to audience members at major concerts and festivals. Thought up by HTR’s dynamic Executive Director, Darcy Lynch, the Flower Power connection became a reality when Ms. Lynch expressed the need to have an eye-catching van to travel to the various venues, carrying the necessary articles to administer and provide relaxing chair massages. Through the miracle of a Go Fund Me campaign, generous support from Graphic Innovations, Access Event Solutions, Glynn’s Auto Upholstery and the resurrection of a 1972 Volkswagan Type 2 Transporter bus, the van is now a reality, decked out with paintings from the celebrated artist, Ray Stephenson.
